Using the prebuild OrbbecViewer executable, I turned on the Developer Mode option on the Femto Mega. The device rebooted itself, but once it tried to reconnect, Windows informed that “USB device not recognized: the last USB device you connected to this computer malfunctioned, and Windows does not recognize it.” In the Device Manager, it is displayed as “Unknown USB Device (Configuration Descriptor Request Failed)”.
I’ve tried various solutions to the issue, but none of worked. Restarted the computer, turned off fast-loading of USB devices, used different USB ports, uninstalled and reinstalled the driver.
Since the device can’t be recognized, I can’t use the Viewer to disable the Developer Mode. At this point, the device is now as useful a brick.
Is there any known solution for resolving this issue?
When you turn on Developer Mode, the device can’t be connected to via USB (as you found). You could try connecting via the network, or you could re-flash the device’s firmware (requires Linux).
Greetings! I have the same problem and I was not able to fix it. I was trying to update firmware of the camera and in the PDF instructions there is a misleading step prompting me to put camera in Recovery Mode. Since in the latest viewer version Recovery Mode was replaced with Developer Mode I pressed it assuming it’s just some name change and now can’t reach device. Orbbec team really shall put a big warning on developer mode button and update firmware update instructions.
When I connect over ethernet I get this error: #4 [ERROR] function:ob::DeviceList::getDevice
args:index
message:VendorTCPClient: Connect to server failed! addr=192.168.1.10, port=8090, err=socket is not ready & timeout
type:3
Camera is connected straight to the laptop. I can add it to the Viewer but can’t connect. Windows 11.
