I am brand new to using the Astra but am familiar with OpenCV and similar packages. I have been messing around and am not able to get everything set up on my Ubuntu 18.04 machine. I plan to use the Astra with ROS for on-board robot vision, so this may require me to downgrade to 16.04 anyway. However, I would much rather use 18.04. Has anyone had success with using Astra on 18.04? Is this possible at all?

I think it’s very much possible. The SDK is developed for Ubuntu 14.04 LTS or later. and It should be pretty straight forward.
