It seems that the remote control is not working out-of-the-box with Persee with Lubuntu 14.04 installed. I would like to be able for example to restart the system via the remote. Do I need to install and setup LIRC ? If so, is there any documentation for this procedure ?

Hey I’m using Ubuntu 16.04 and I can’t get the remote to work either.
I have tried doing ‘cat’ on /dev/ttyS0 and /dev/ttyS2 and /dev/ttyGS* but nothing comes out. I know the remote is doing something because I put a battery in it, and my infrared camera can see the remote flashing if I press a button.
I know this thread is more than a year old but I’m gravedigging it since there is nothing in the manual or forums about the remote control, it doesn’t show up in lshw (It’s not USB? I have lirc installed) and they aren’t the most common devices on PCs so info online is scarce.
Someone else on my team asked about this via email and apparently Orbbec does not support using the remote with Ubuntu at all.
