WiFi hotspot on Persee running Ubuntu

I have ubuntu 16.04 installed on a Persee. When I create a wifi hotspot (following these instructions: How do I create a WiFi hotspot sharing wireless internet connection (single adapter)? - Ask Ubuntu), the Persee sees the WiFi hotspot but no other device does.

Does anyone have experience with creating a hotspot on a Persee running Ubuntu?

If there’s no other option, does anyone know of a natively supported USB Wifi adapter that would allow creating a hotspot in Ubuntu on a Persee?
